My Favorite App

If you’ve ever talked to me about apps, I’ve talked about Evernote. It's amazing.

I’ve been using it for a while now, and since I love it so much, I figured I’d create a post about it. Because I think you might just come to love it too.

So what is Evernote?

Well, Evernote is a digital brain. It’s where you store things, to possibly come back and retrieve them later.

You can store all kinds of data: papers, receipts, pictures, notes, ideas, whatever you want. It allows you to organize those things into notebooks, and tag them as well.

It has a search function so that if you ever want to come back later and find something you put in, you’ll easily be able to.

And there’s an app for every one of your devices. So wherever you are, you’ll be able to access and input your information.

What do I use it for?

Everything.

Really, I use this app more than anything else on my computer.

I take notes for school in it. I have notebooks to store all of my blog post ideas, book ideas, and business ideas. I have notebooks to store any great articles I find on topics of interest. I store receipts and other information that I might want to access later. (And if they’re somewhat confidential, Evernote allows me to encrypt them.)

What I love most about Evernote is that I forget much less now.

For example, any time my wife says that she really likes something, I take a picture, or get the link from the website, and I drop it into a note in Evernote called "Gift Ideas for Sam." So when an anniversary or birthday comes around, I don't have to rack my brain for gift ideas, I just go to Evernote, pull up the note, and buy the cheapest item there.

(I'm kidding, I don't go straight to the cheapest item.)

Also, when I need to write, or give a presentation about something, I search the subject in Evernote and am able to rediscover all of the thoughts and articles I’ve accumulated over time.

Things that I wanted to remember, and now I can. Because it’s all in one convenient place.

It’s fantastic. You should try it. And let me know what you think.
