No More Church Signs

No More Church Signs

If you're going to have a church sign, you really need to figure out what the point of the church sign is.

Is it to inform your church members of coming events? If so, a Facebook group, or email notification, would probably work much better.

Is it to bring non-believers in? If so, then comments about Hell being hot, or sin being bad, or anything else that would much more likely turn someone away than bring them in, should not be allowed on your sign.

Is it to teach people? Then why not use your 140 characters or less on Twitter instead? You'll probably reach a lot more people there. And you can put links to articles and books, where people can actually learn, rather than trying to be pithy, and making yourself, and Christianity in general, look ridiculous.

So the moral of the story is this:

In today's day and age, the old fashioned church sign is outdated and unnecessary. So please, no more church signs.

But, if you happen to already have one, make good use of it.

Remember, Jesus was often looked down upon because he “welcomed sinners.” Let your sign bear the same accusation.
