Take Every Thought Captive

If you don't control your thoughts, your thoughts will control you.

Have you ever thought about what you think?

In 2 Corinthians 10:5 Paul says that we should take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. Every single thought that we have should be taken captive. Every thought should glorify God.

This is something that is very hard to do. But if we have the Holy Spirit, we have the ability to do it. He's there to help us control our thoughts. To take them captive and make them obedient to Christ.

The first step in doing this is believing that, through the Holy Spirit, you can do it. And that you should do it. And then you need to start taking the steps to make it a reality.

Read the Bible. Read good books and blogs. Listen to good podcasts. And don't just read or listen. Read or listen and then think about how it applies to your life. Think about what it says about the nature of God and how what you learned about God's nature affects the way you relate to Him. Put reminders on your phone to think about what you are thinking. Put Bible verses on sticky notes around your house to remind you to think right thoughts. Put good quotations in places you will see them.

Find ways to remind yourself to think rightly. Because the first step in living rightly is thinking rightly. The first step in living in a way that glorifies God is thinking in a way that glorifies God. The first step in a life obedient to Christ is a mind obedient to Christ. Right thoughts lead to right actions.

Question to think about and discuss:

What are some good ways that you have found to help you think rightly?
